Willie J. Brewer

Mr. Willie J. Brewer, 94, of Emporia, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2024. He was the son of the late Harvey and Elma Brewer and was also preceded in death by his wife, Emma Ruth Brewer, five sisters, Frances Jackson, Mary Bolton, Lelia May Campbell, Joyce Schaeffer, Gloria Dean Stainback and two brothers, Paul Brewer and Dan Brewer.

Mr. Brewer is survived by three daughters, Sherry High of Wilson, NC, Teresa Lynn Brewer and Billie Jo Brewer, both of Emporia; five grandchildren, Cale Newsome, Kevin Allen (Tonia), Adam High (Deanne), Leslie “Sissy” Wilhelm (Matt) and Samantha Trout (Steve), six great-grandchildren, Thomas Newsome, Alyssa Allen, Kinsley Snyder, Emma Tyrrell, Roman Tyrrell, Savannah Trout, Rhett Wilhelm and Addison Wilhelm, and a step-great-grandson, Logan.

The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 25 at Zion Baptist Church where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Zion Baptist Church, 974 Zion Church Rd, Emporia, VA 23847.
