William Taylor Smith

William Taylor Smith, 99, passed from this life on Friday, June 2, 2017. A native of Sussex County, he was the son of Charles Robert Smith and Bessie Johnson Smith. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Pearl Wray Smith; three brothers, Robert, John and Ernest and three sisters, Kathryn Warren, Gertrude Gordon and Irene Smith. Taylor is survived by his only daughter, Paige Smith Hall of Petersburg, grandson, Woody Hall and wife, Joette of Mechanicsville; granddaughter, Wendy Bohling of Louisville, Colorado, granddaughter, Tina Seal of Chesterfield, Virginia; six great-grandchildren, Conner and Cameron Hall, Zach and Madison Bohling, Brian and J. D. Seal and one great-great-granddaughter, Paxton Seal; also his dear friend and companion, Melba Stainback and great-nephew, Wayne Smith.

A celebration of a wonderful and full life will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 6 at Owen Funeral Home where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at High Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to High Hills Baptist Church, P.O. Box 296, Jarratt, Virginia 23867.
