Virginia (Ginger) Lee Coletrane

Virginia Ann Lee Coletrane “Ginger”, born January 19, 1950, transitioned from her earthly life to her heavenly home on December 22, 2024.  She was a lifelong resident of Emporia, VA.  She was preceded in death by her parents, George F. and Virginia Reid Lee and her father-in-law, Robert A. Coletrane, Sr.  She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert A. Coletrane, Jr., his mother Betty, and his sister Janice Norman (Ken) of Florida.  She also leaves the lights of her life a daughter, Jan Smith (Bryan) of Powhatan, VA and a son Alex (Laura) of Williamsburg, VA.  She is also survived by four grandchildren, Blair and Reid Harrell and Carter and Max Coletrane, who brought joy and laughter to her life, and she loved being their “Grandma.”  Ginger was her happiest when she was with her family.

Ginger was a 1968 graduate of Greensville County High School and Southern Seminary Junior College in 1970.  After her parent’s deaths, she and her husband owned and operated Lee’s of Virginia Jewelers, which her parents started in 1949.  After retiring from the retail world, she went to work for the Greensville County Public School system as a full-time aide and substitute.  She loved working with the children, and they loved her.

Ginger was a member of Main Street Methodist Church and the Woman’s Club of Emporia.  Ginger was a beacon of kindness and love, always doing for others and will reside in the hearts of all who knew her forever.

A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 204 at the Emporia Cemetery, 500 Spring Street, Emporia, VA.
