Tyler James Winstead, 28, of Sussex County Virginia, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Dan F. and Emma B. Pulley, and Clarice “Memama” Leonard Winstead Smith, and Uncles Danny Pulley & Darry Winstead.
Tyler is survived by his parents Ronald Edward & Cheryl Pulley-Winstead, four brothers Dustyn Edward Winstead (Laci), Steven Tanner Winstead (Brianna), Travis Page Winstead & Justin Edward Winstead (Megan), nephews Jacsyn & Jace, niece Shelby Grace Winstead, grandfather James Edward Winstead (Teresa), his beloved canine companions Gracie & Daytona, and a large extended family of loving aunts, uncles & cousins.
Tyler was a Boy Scout of Troop 232 from Purdy, Virginia where he achieved his Life Scout Rank.
One of his most honorable achievements was working alongside and for his brother Dustyn. He was his right-hand man, a dependable & dedicated employee. A void left behind that can never fully be replaced. Tyler was the epitome of a good ol’ country boy that would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He enjoyed anything & everything outdoors: from four-wheeling, wrangling wildlife, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, working on small engines and any physical labor. He was a helping hand whenever it was needed, no questions asked, whether you ran out of gas or a neighbor needed help loading hundreds of bales of hay in the middle of summer. Tyler had a tremendous passion for all life’s adventures & was well known for his sweet smile, kind heart & unwavering work ethic. He enjoyed sitting on his back deck watching the stars at night & observing his hummingbirds on his front porch watching the sunset. Tyler, we will always look for you in all sunsets.
