Sandra Merricks Sabo

Sandra Merricks Sabo, 80, of Emporia, departed this life on Saturday, March 15, 2025. She was the daughter of the Fulton and Lillian Merricks and she was also preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Charles Albert “Buddy” Sabo, Jr.; a sister, Juanita Carole Elmore and a brother, Roger Alan Merricks.

Sandra is survived by two daughters, Victoria S. Wells (Chris) and Susan S. Byrum (Kevin); son, Charles Albert ‘Chuck” Sabo, III (Leslie); grandson, Daniel Charles Byrum (Necia); two granddaughters, Emalyn Lou Sabo and Brittany Byrum; sister Wanda Edwards (Darwin); brother-in-law, Lester Elmore; sister-in-law, Valerie Merricks and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sandra was longtime home daycare provider and also leaves behind numerous children she helped to nurture and raise and continued in the care of their children.

The funeral service will be held 2 p.m, Thursday, March 20 at St. John the Baptist Lutheran Church where the family will receive friends prior to the service 12-2 p.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. John the Baptist Lutheran Church, 1351 West Atlantic St Emporia, Virginia 23847.
