Raymond L. Poarch

Mr. Raymond L. Poarch, 91, of Stony Creek, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023.  He was the son of the late Joseph Wade and Mary Perkins Poarch and was also preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.

He is survived by his brother, William S. “Billy” Poarch and several nieces and nephews.

Raymond was a retired farmer and a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was proud of our country and his service. He was a good neighbor and friend to the community. After his retirement, he was able and willing to help out his friends and family with assistance in any way he could including sharing vegetables from his garden and helping others to meet appointments. Raymond had researched his family history and was very knowledgeable in Sussex County and American history

The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, January 29 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private interment will follow at Poarch Family Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to a favorite charity.
