Peggy Jones Ellis Jarratt

Mrs. Peggy Jones Ellis Jarratt, 79, of Stony Creek, passed away Friday, July 9, 2021. She was preceded in death by husbands, Walter L. “Pete” Ellis and Edward C. Jarratt and a daughter, Laura Ellis Dickerson.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Linda Garter (John) and her son, Walter L. Ellis, Jr.; granddaughter, Tricia Worley (Forrest); great-granddaughter, Laura Beth Worley; brothers, Keith Jones, Kevin Jones (Judy); sister, Susan Lynn; devoted caregiver, Gwen Johnson and her grandson, Maurice Taylor; special friend, Doug Long and feline companion, “Bojangles.”

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 13 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd., Jarratt, Virginia. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 14 at Readville Baptist Church, Sussex, Virginia with interment to follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Readville Baptist Church c/o Howard Wachsmann, Treasurer, 11093 Dove LN, Stony Creek, Virginia 23882 or to the SPCA.
