Melvyn C. Goodwyn

Melvyn C. Goodwyn, 94, of Stony Creek, widower of Mary Catherine Goodwyn passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017. He was the son of the late Henry P. and Mattie Harrison Goodwyn and was also preceded in death by a brother, Francis Goodwyn and sister, Otis Dorothy Roberts. Mr. Goodwyn is survived by a son, Melvin C. Goodwyn, Jr. of Woodbridge; daughter, Theresa Goodwyn Harmon and husband, Gary of Shadyside, MD; granddaughter, Laura Catherine Goodwyn of Washington, D.C.; sister, Josephine Tyson of Newport News and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct 13 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct 14 at Sappony Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Goodwyn Family Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Sappony Baptist Church.
