Margaret "Maggie" Allen Gould

December 8, 1964 — May 15, 2023

Margaret Allen Gould, of Jarratt, Virginia (formerly from El Paso, IL) passed away on May 15, 2023 after battling pancreatic cancer for five years.

Maggie was born on December 8, 1964 daughter of Richard Allen and Jane Allen. She married Tim Gould on September 19th, 1987.

She is survived by her husband Tim Gould, daughter Molly Long (Will), son Dan Gould (Amy), grandson Quentin Long, and sisters Elizabeth Allen and Kate Kirby. Other surviving relatives include mother-in-law Pat Gould, Uncle Bill Allen, and many cousins, nephews, great-nephews, nieces and great-nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents Dr. Richard Eilers Allen and Jane Brereton Allen, father-in-law Daniel Gould, grandson Jackson Long, sister-in-law Sue Muir and brother-in-law Rodney Kirby.

Maggie grew up in Bloomington, Illinois, attended Metcalf Laboratory School and graduated from University High School in 1983. In 1987 she married Tim at Funk’s Grove Chapel in central Illinois. After obtaining an earlier bachelor’s degree in Spanish and French from University of Missouri – St. Louis she subsequently returned to school for a master’s degree in counseling from Illinois State University when her children were small. She devoted most of her professional life to The Baby Fold, a non-profit agency in Normal, IL, where her goal was to consistently involve and educate guardians by collaboratively working towards providing the best approach for each child's future.

Maggie is remembered by all as a caring and dedicated wife, mother, and friend. Her home was the hub of family gatherings, where her excellent cooking, love of games, and relaxed and welcoming temperament created a space that will always be remembered as “the” gathering place.

As a wife and mother, Maggie put her family first, and was always there for them.  Maggie met Tim when they were five years old, and they have been best friends for the last 53 years. Her pride in her children would show in the way her face lit up when she talked about them, joked with them, or told them how she loved them.
