Leroy Meeks

April 20, 1937 – December 20, 2021

Leroy Meeks, 84, passed away at home on Monday, December 20, 2021.

Leroy was born in Wilson, NC.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee and Bertha Pridgen Meeks.  He is also preceded in death by his brother, Cecil, and sisters Nancy Hall and Lynda Stilwell.

He was a professional truck driver for 44 years logging over 2 million miles accident free and earned many safe driving awards.  He was proud of his driver’s records.  He loved all sports and was an avid bluegrass music fan and U.S. Army veteran.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Millie Meeks of Emporia, VA and his daughter, Joy Lynne Meeks of Portsmouth, VA., 2 step-daughters , Karen Davis and Sandra Foley, both of Scranton, PA. A grandson, Casey Lee Meeks and a granddaughter Taylore Lynne Meeks, and a great grandson Casey Lee Meeks II. Three step-grandchildren, Carrie, Ashley and Christopher.  Two brothers, Garland Meeks of Chesapeake, VA and Butch Meeks of Sunbury, NC.  Two sisters, Pat Worrel of Surry, VA and Peggy Holloman of Rock Mount, NC.   Brother-in-law, Paul Hinkley and wife, Karen of Scranton, PA. and many nieces nephews. His nephew, Shane, spent a great deal of time with his Uncle. Leroy was also survived by his four feline companions and they brought much joy and comfort to him.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Hospice and Southside Regional Medical Center for their devoted care.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 08, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Hill Baptist Church, led by Rick Ragan.  The family will receive friends following the service in the Church social hall.
