Mr. Joseph Elmore “J.E.” Lynch, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023. Mr. Lynch was preceded in death by his parents, William Madison Lynch and Nora Elizabeth Bradley; two brothers, Bobby Lynch and Bill Lynch and five sisters, Annie Mae Clary, Bettie Floyd, Ruby High, Frances Council and Marie Bryant.
J. E. was born April 25, 1935 and was raised in Brunswick County, Virginia. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division. He retired from Weldon Mills after over 40 years service and he was an avid fisherman.
J.E. is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janice Williams Lynch, two daughters, Nora Lynch Smith (Brad) and Susan Lynch Tudor (Rick) and son, Joseph Bradley “Brad” Lynch (Deborah); grandchildren, Kelsey Whitlock (Clyde), Hillary Whitlock (Tim), Ashley Lynch (Steven), Kaitlyn McDuffie (Josh) and Aaron Tudor; two great-grandchildren, Adelaide Britt and Everleigh Rose; three step-grandchildren, Austin Dixon, Chelsea Maddow and Caitlyn Weddle (Chris); a sister, Linda Foster and many special nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff of Hospice of Virginia and his caregivers, Cindy Creath, Ella Bullock, Brenda Hicks and Evelyn Powell.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 8 at First Presbyterian Church, 210 S. Main St, Emporia, Virginia followed by a reception in the church social hall where the family will receive friends. Interment at Greensville Memorial Cemetery will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church, 210 S. Main St, Emporia, Virginia 23847 or to Hospice of Virginia.
