John Charles Hoffmaster

Mr. John C. Hoffmaster, 43, of Gasburg, Virginia, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Hoffmaster, maternal grandmother, Ruby Kelty and a sister, Jody Moates.

John was a devoted and loving father and friend, and life partner to Amy Walker. He spent his career as an emergency room registered nurse caring for others. He was an avid outdoorsman and was at his most content when he was among the woods and waters of his childhood mountain home; hunting, fishing or on the water sailing, snorkeling and diving. He was a river guide and was active in training with swift water rescue.

The home he leaves behind will never seem the same without his active presence as leader and caretaker that his immediate family had become accustomed to.

They also would like to pass on that in his memory to hold your loved ones dear; hug them and let them know you love them and to take time to be together and live and love fully in the moments you have with them.

John is survived by his devoted life partner, Amy Walker; two daughters, Darlene Hawkins (Chris) and Josephine Hoffmaster; stepdaughter, Brianna Nicole; two sons, Jonathan Hoffmaster and Patrick Tippett; two grandchildren, Xena Thompson and Shay Hawkins; his mother, Darla Norman; sister, Jamie Nicholson (Ponch); one niece and three nephews, and his devoted best friend, Andrea Rinaldi.

In keeping with John’s requests, the family will schedule a private memorial service at a later date.
