Janice Ruth Williams Lynch, passed away peacefully, and surrounded by her family, Wednesday, November 13, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Joseph E. “J.E.” Lynch, her parents, Joseph H (Jack) Williams, Sr. and Bessie Hodge Williams and one sister, Frances Ann Williams Brock.
Janice was born August 29, 1941, raised in Emporia and was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Emporia where she served in many capacities over the years. She retired from Vulcan Materials (formerly Trego Stone) in Skippers, Virginia after nearly 30 years.
Janice is survived by two daughters, Nora Lynch Smith (Brad) and Susan Lynch Tudor (Rick) and son, Joseph Bradley “Brad” Lynch (Deborah); grandchildren, Kelsey Whitlock (Clyde) of Wilmington, NC, Hillary Whitlock (Tim) of Raleigh, NC, Ashley Lynch (Steven) of Charlotte, NC, Kaitlyn Lynch McDuffie (Josh) of Roanoke Rapids, NC, Aaron Tudor of Emporia, VA, Austin Dixon of Radford, VA, Chelsea Smith Howington (Thomas) of Cedar Bluff, VA and Caitlyn Smith Weddie (Chris) of Hillsville, VA; two great-grandchildren, Adelaide Nicole Britt of Wilmington, NC and Everleigh Rose McDuffie of Roanoke Rapids, NC; brothers, Joseph H. “Jack” Williams, Jr., Michael H. “Mickey” Williams (Allene) and Timothy W. “Tim” Williams (Lois), all of Emporia, VA and a sister-in-law, Linda Lynch Foster of Roanoke Rapids, NC, and many special nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff of Crater Community Hospice, Mary Beth Vincent and Tracee McKensie and her caregivers, Ella Bullock, Cindy Creath, Kaye Whitehead, Laverne Lucas, Juanita Jefferson and Kim Lucas.
There will be a private interment at Greensville Memorial Cemetery at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 20 followed by a Memorial Service 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service in the church social hall.
