James A. Grizzard

James A. Grizzard, 93, of Emporia, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025. He was the son of the late Frank and Maude Whitehead Grizzard, and he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Susie House Grizzard, infant sister, Lois Alease Grizzard and brothers, Conrad Grizzard, John Walter Grizzard and Franklin Grizzard.

James is survived by his loving and devoted caregiver, Mauri Crawford; sister, Effie Sue McAlexander of Mississippi; daughters-in-law, Dorothy House and Luenette House Edwards; granddaughter, Becky Brooks (Ken) of Powhatan; grandsons, John House, Craig House (Brandie) and Betsy Corley (Bobby), and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Owen Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 18 beginning at 1 p.m. prior to the funeral service which will be held graveside 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 18 2025 at the mausoleum of Greensville Memorial Cemetery.
