Hope Harrison Mitchell

Mrs. Hope Harrison Mitchell, 97, of Mckenney, widow of Bennett Fultz “Ben T.” Mitchell, passed away Monday, December 2, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Octavious Llewellyn Harrison and Bessie Vernona Harrison. She was preceded in death by her siblings, three sisters and four brothers; a granddaughter, Bess Terry; and a great-grandson, Aden Lewis Hawkins.

Mrs. Mitchell retired from Dinwiddie School System after 42 years of dedicated service. She was an active longtime member of Concord United Methodist Church serving in many capacities over the years.

Hope is survived by four daughters, Vernona M. Smith (John), Evelyn R. Mitchell, Janet M. Reames (Mel) and Betsy M. Smith (Joe); nine grandchildren (7 spouses); eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, December 8 at Concord United Methodist Church, 18594 Concord- Sappony Rd, Stony Creek, Virginia. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall after the graveside committal service.
