Dorothy Jarratt Baylor, 75, widow of William “Bill” Baylor, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 1, 2019. The daughter of the late Benjamin and Susie Gordon Jarratt, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Poole and Gladys Barnes and five brothers, Walter, Richard, William “Joboy”, Tom and Mel.
She is survived by two sons, Ted “Chris” Constable (Patti) and Terry Constable (Sarah); grandchildren, Rachel Constable, Nathan Constable, Virginia Monroe (James), William “Billy” Constable, Emily Constable; two brothers, Lawrence “Bubba’ Jarratt and David Jarratt and a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dorothy was a native of Sussex County and she held her family and friends close, always concerned with helping others and being supportive in times both good and bad where she could lend a hand. She was a longtime member of Kingsland Baptist Church in Chesterfield. She retired from Reynolds Metals in 2002 after 34 years service and since then had been a volunteer at Chippenham Hospital.
The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 5 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 6. Interment will follow at Readville Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (www.mda.org.).
