Donald Lawrence Jones

Mr. Donald “Donnie” L. Jones, Sr., 79, of Emporia, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022 at his home. He was the son of the late Dr. Lawrence P. and Emily K. Jones and he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Bowen Jones.

Donnie is survived by his wife, Carol B. Woodruff Jones; son, Donald L. ‘Buck” Jones; two stepsons, William G. “Billy’ Woodruff (Vicki) and Duane Woodruff; two granddaughters, Jennifer W. Sanders (Sean) and Taylor W. Davenport (Todd); great grandson, Calvin W. Sanders; a sister, Elizabeth ‘Betty” J. Inge and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Virginia especially his nurse Joyce and aide, Erica, and to his caregiver, Freda Allen.

A graveside memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, February18 at Grace Church Cemetery, Purdy, Virginia.
