Dennis Alton Moore

Dennis Alton Moore “Coach Moore”, 82 of Emporia, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025. He was born in Southampton County in 1943. He was preceded in death by his parents Curtis and Lillie Moore; brother Ervin Moore and sister Gladys Hobbs. He is survived by his wife Glenda Marsh-Moore; son Tony Moore; daughters Sherrie Marsh, Angie Moore-Lobach (Eric), Angie Copeland (Craig), and Sara-K Livesay (Tracy); grandsons Victor Moore, Zachary Moore and Colton Copeland; granddaughters Mya Lobach and Jenna Livesay; and numerous other loving family members. Dennis graduated from East Carolina University and with a passion for coaching began a career as a teacher and coach until retiring from Brunswick Academy after over 38 years. Some of the proudest moments in his life and career include winning over 200 football games and having the Brunswick Academy football field dedicated and named for him. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2025; at Greensville Memorial Cemetery
