Darryl Wayne Bowen, Sr.

Darryl Wayne Bowen Sr., formerly of Emporia and in later life, Colonial Heights, VA, left this life to join his Lord and Savior on August 26, 2019, at 59 years old. He is preceded in death by his mother, Cornelia Malone, and sister, Betty Hobbs. His love lives on through his aunt, Evelyn (John) Drake, brother, Allen (Caren) Bowen, sister, Bonnie Fuller, three children, Wayne (Mary Beth), Taylor, and Blake Bowen, mother of his children, Brenda Bowen, two grandchildren, special friend Sandy Talley, and two fur babies, Chloe and Joy. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, friends, and coworkers that he loved dearly. Darryl was known for his humor, dance moves, and love of the Redskins, Reese’s cups, and wrestling. Darryl knew his way around the kitchen (and stew pot) and loved to cook for those he loved. Darryl attended and was a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church, and was an active member of Dolphin Volunteer Fire Department for a number of years. A grave side service will be held at Reedy Creek Baptist Church, 1919 Reedy Creek Rd, Freeman, VA, on August 29, 2019 at 3:00pm with reception to follow.
