Daniel “Big Head” Jessup, Sr went home to be with his heavenly father on August 3, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Petersburg, VA, he was the son of the late Charles “Charlie” Jessup and Edith Rose Jessup.  Also, he was preceded in death by his sister Rose Mary Fisher “Maitland; brother, Jonathan Wray; and sister-in-law Rose Ann “Angel” Jessup.

Daniel was a Sussex Central High School graduate and Land Nutrient Manager at Smithfield Food LLC for 28 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife Donna Lynn Jessup; children, Daniel “DJ” Jessup, Jr (Brittani), Tiffany Nichole Price (Vincent), Shawn Patrick Ferguson; grandchildren, Michael, Zoe, Brent, Madison, Kailey, and Landen; brother, Charles “Poodle” Jessup; sisters, Frances “Kay” Lewis (H.G.), Pricilla “Penny” Narron (Mack); and special brother, William “Billy” Houchins (Judy) and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Massey Cancer Center at VCU and At Home Care Hospice.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude, or the Massey Cancer Center in his memory.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 7 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Lewis Family Cemetery.
