Christine Barnette Jarratt

Christine Barnette Jarratt, 85, of Stony Creek went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Shelton Jarratt, Sr. She was the daughter of the late Francis “Frank” Barnette and Bessie Lee Callis Barnette. Christine was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lillie “Sister” Evans, Sallie Shell, Florence Lewis, Agnes Carrol, Frances Heider, Ruby Upton and Barabara Beck; and her brothers, William “Buddy” Lewis, William “Bill” Barnette, Robert “Jr” Barnette, Frank Barnette and Marshall Barnette.

Christine loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was affectionately known as Momma, Nanaw, Aunt Chris and Aunt Teen. She was a ray of light and a beacon of strength, love and warmth, who touched countless lives with her kindness and unwavering spirit. She always had a beautiful smile and always had a positive outlook, never complaining and always putting the needs of others ahead of her own. She cherished her family and friends. Christine loved her Lord and we find comfort knowing she is rejoicing with Him and will forever be our guardian angel.

Christine is survived by her children, Darlene Hubbard (Tim), Shelton Jarratt (Terri), Ron Jarratt and Sherry Denise Jarratt; eight grandchildren, Adrian Venable (Travis), Steven Barefoot (Madison), Blake Jarratt (Brittney), Taylor Kammerer (Travis), Stephanie Powell (Sam), Chris Jarratt (Emma), Natalie Jarratt, Jordin Jarratt and; five great-grandchildren, Ma’Kenzie, Maddison, Lily, Wyatt and Jackson; four sisters-in-law, Ruth Gay, Audrey Carlton, Alma Whitt and Shirley Jarratt; numerous nieces and nephews and her loving canine companion, Lexie.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 14 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia where the funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, March 16. Interment will follow at Readville Baptist Church Cemetery.
