Ray Clarke

Carl “Ray” Clarke, age 78, a lifelong resident of Dinwiddie County, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ribble Carpenter Clarke, Jr. and Annie Winfield Clarke.

Ray is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Poole Clarke; his son, Carl Ray Clarke, Jr. (Christie); his daughter, Sarah Clarke Gunn (David); his grandchildren, Miranda Dale Clarke, Kevin Allen Gunn, and Ryan Carl Gunn; and his twin sister, Faye Clarke Spiers (Robert Hall).

In addition to being a lifelong farmer, Ray enjoyed playing and coaching church softball, hunting, fishing, and driving his antique tractors.  He was a founding member of the Old Hickory Volunteer Fire Department and attended Concord United Methodist Church.

Ray was blessed to have his devoted caregivers at home, The Dunlop House, and Serenity First Hospice.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
