Bettie Ferguson Veliky

Bettie Ferguson Veliky, 98, of Jarratt, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Annie Harrell Ferguson and she was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Veliky, a son, Paul Ray Veliky, and all of her siblings, four brothers, Kennon Ferguson, Wade Ferguson, Clayton Ferguson and Melvin Ferguson and four sisters, Ruby Pearson, Mamie Driver, Erma Vincent and Avis Frazier.

Bettie is survived by her son, Elwood Wayne Veliky (Gail); two daughters, Betty Veliky Seward and Linda Veliky Rupp (Jim); four grandchildren, David Seward (Paula), Shannon Phelps (Chad), Crystal Weaver and Tracey Moss (Jamie); five great-grandchildren, Madison Phelps, Cameron Phelps (Cora), Amber Lowe, Logan Lowe and Alexis Weaver and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held 3:30 p.m. Sunday, August 20 at St. John the Baptist Lutheran Church where the family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. John the Baptist Lutheran Church, 1351 W. Atlantic St., Emporia, Virginia 23847.
