Ashley Lauren Smith

Ashley Lauren Smith, 33, of Emporia, passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025. She was born May 1, 1991, the daughter of Angela Jarratt Smith and Robert Pender Smith. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, William Jarratt.

Ashley is survived by her parents, Michael and Angie Smith; her brother, Michael L. Smith; stepbrother, Marcus Moore; special aunt & uncle, Ann and Neil Newton; grandparents, Joey and Nancy Turner; maternal grandmother, Judis Jarratt; devoted caregivers, Jennifer Seward and Marissa Mullins and a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 23 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 24. Interment will follow at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Cerebral Palsey Foundation (www.cpresource.org) or to Autism Society (www.autismspeaks.org).
