James Donnan "Donnie" Abernathy

James Donnan “Donnie” Abernathy, 77, passed away at home on Monday, January 23, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Rideout Abernathy and Annie Hall Abernathy Barnes and also his brother, Dwayne Hall Abernathy and sister, Carol A. Barnes. Donnie is survived by his wife, Marian Brugh Abernathy, son, M. Chad Hall (Tina); two grandchildren, Jacob and Megan Hall; step-sister, Dale Barnes Mauney (Don); brother-in-law, Francis W. Barnes; two nephews, Joel Abernathy and Jim Barnes; niece, Tracy Barnes Nicholson (James); great-niece, Caroline P. Nicholson and numerous cousins. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday, January 28 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd., Jarratt, Virginia. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, January 29 at Concord United Methodist Church followed by interment in the church cemetery. A reception will follow in the church social hall.
