Charles W. Rideout

Charles W. Rideout, 79, of Stony Creek, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016. He was the son of the late Shelton and Eugenia Rideout, a lifelong farmer and a member of Concord United Methodist Church. Mr. Rideout was a charter member of Old Hickory Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as chief for 38 years. He is survived by his wife, Nancy C. Rideout; three sons, James W. Rideout and wife, Becky, Donnie T. Rideout and Steve L. Rideout; three grandchildren, Katelyn Rideout, Allyson Rideout and Wesley Rideout; a sister, Mary R. Spiers and husband, Sonny; brother, John T. “Tom” Rideout and wife, Sue and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 7 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia where the funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 8. Interment will follow in the Rideout Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Old Hickory Volunteer Fire Department, 25813 Courthouse Rd., Stony Creek, Virginia 23882.
