Arthur M. Pair

Arthur M. Pair, 93, of Emporia, widower of Mary Ruth Pair, passed away, Tuesday, February 23, 2016. Mr. Pair was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a retired U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He also was retired from the Petersburg Sheriff’s office. He is survived by his wife, Alease Allen Pair; three daughters, Carolyn, Mary Alice and Alma; son-in-law, Al Medlin; stepson, Jimmy Doyle and wife, Mary Jo; stepdaughter, Margie Cifers Owen; two step grandchildren, Angela Dunn and husband, Keith and Amy Smith and husband, Troy and three step-great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, February 28 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd., Jarratt, Virginia where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment with full military honors will follow at 4 p.m. at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Forest Hill Baptist Church, 2103 Pine Log Rd, Skippers, Virginia 23879.
