Laura Ann Stainback

Laura Ann Stainback, 74, of Emporia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2015. Born July 4, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Ellen Powell; she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, James T. “Jimmy” Stainback; brothers, Sammy and Buddy; and sister, Margaret. Laura Ann is survived by her daughters and son, Donna Jeffries-Castro and husband, Mauricio, Tommy Stainback and wife, Carolyn; and Glenda Rawlings and husband, Mike; five grandchildren, Shaun Glenn, Tiffany Ricks and husband, Chad, Clifton Whitby and wife, Heather, Brandon Rawlings, and Shannon Rawlings; five great-grandchildren, Ella and Skyler Ricks, Ryland, Kellan, and Aydan Whitby, and brother, Bobby Powell and wife, Laura. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept 30 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia 23867 where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, October 1. Interment will follow at Reedy Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
