Nellie Reams Smith

Nellie Reams Smith, 82, of Purdy, widow of George Beverly Smith, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013. Mrs. Smith was also preceded in death by her son, Beverly Lyle Smith and a granddaughter, Ann Louise Poarch. She is survived by two daughters, Sarah S. Poarch and husband, Robert and Cindy Smith; grandchildren, Jennifer Poarch and fiance’ Mark Lilly, Doug Poarch and wife, Katie, Sarah Jane Poarch and fiance’, Jeff Richardson, Nicole Richardson, Greg Smith and wife, Katie, Jason Smith and Aaron Smith; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Neal and Macy Powell, Sarah Beth Olson; Kaitlyn and Makenna Poarch, Beverly Leanne Richardson, Guinevere and Gregory Lyle Smith and Carter Lyle Smith; two sisters, Virginia R. Sacco of Rockville, MD and Ruth R. Heaps of Bel Air, MD; two sisters-in-law, Lucille J. Radogna of Norfolk, VA and Katherine Smith of Hanover, VA and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec 1 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Dec 2 at Purdy Baptist Church followed by interment 3 p.m. at Smith Family Cemetery, 11370 Hanover Courthouse Rd, Hanover, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Purdy Baptist Church, 186 Smoky Ordinary Rd, Emporia, Virginia 23847.
