Edward J. "Eddie" Delatte

Edward J. Delatte, 81, of Emporia, widower of Margaret Edna Delatte, passed away, Sunday, September 22, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Helen Delatte; two sons, William Alexander Delatte of Skippers and John E. Delatte of Roanoke Rapids, NC; two daughters, Julie M. Washburn of Skippers and Sylvia D. Jackson of Stony Creek; a step-daughter, Melodie Laylor of Hampton; nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Delatte was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and a two time recipient of the Purple Heart. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, September 25 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia. The funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, September 26 at Zion Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
