Bruce A. Skinner, Sr, 84, of Emporia, widower of Shirley P. Skinner, passed away Monday, August 5, 2013. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Sherwood and Gilbert. Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda S. Newton and husband, Melvin of Cary, NC; two sons, Bruce A. Skinner, Jr. and wife, Renee of Montpelier and Barry T. Skinner of Emporia; four grandchildren, Justin Pendergrass, Tori Pendergrass, Tyler Newton and Miranda Skinner and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held graveside 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Greensville Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Greensville Volunteer Rescue Squad or to Calvary Baptist Church. Online condolences may be made at owenfh.com.
