V. Lawrence Hobbs

V. Lawrence Hobbs, 95, widower of Edith Wilson Hobbs, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013. He is survived by two sons, Vernon L. Hobbs, Jr. and Dwayne C. Hobbs and wife, Lynda; a sister Paige M. Beale and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Hobbs was the son of the late Hubert Hobbs and Janet Hobbs Mayes and the stepson of Myron Melvin Mayes and was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Audrey Reynolds and Eugenia Martin. He was a retired farmer and was also a lifelong member of Concord United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 9 at Concord United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church social hall. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Concord United Methodist Church, c/o Alice Spiers, Treasurer, 25713 Courthouse Rd, Stony Creek, Virginia 23882.
