Avery Drew Swenson

Avery Drew Swenson, 8, was welcomed into heaven on Sunday, January 27, 2013. She was preceded in death by her loving grandfathers, Charles D. Taylor, Jr. (Grandaddy) and Jeffrey Zalman Swenson (Papa), great-grandparents Moses & Lillie Hobbs, Janet Hobbs, Willie Shimko, Inge & Anna Swenson, and Dave & Mavis Taylor. Scott & Kim Swenson were blessed to be her parents; she also leaves to cherish her memory, her adoring sister, Addison, loving grandmothers Martha Swenson and Diane Taylor, great-grandmother Irene Shimko, aunts & uncles, Christy & Andy Moore, Jeff Swenson, Kevin & Kelly Swenson, cousins A.J., Harley, & Henry Moore and Kelsey, Kyle, Colin, & Kristen Swenson and numerous great-aunts & great-uncles, cousins, special friends, and beloved dogs Jack & George, guinea pigs Spike and Spot, hermit crabs & turtle. She will be missed by so many.

Avery Drew was a beautiful, loving, compassionate, smart, creative, funny little girl who touched everyone she met. She loved to learn. The faculty & staff at Greensville Elementary School were very special to her. Avery Drew loved spending time at Lake Gaston swimming and tubing. Avery Drew was a Disney lover, enjoyed traveling, loved animals of all kinds and was a proud girl scout. She was a thoughtful and giving child who tried to help those in need.

The family will receive friends 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2013 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Road, Jarratt, VA. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Kim & Scott Swenson, 399 Whitehorne Road, Emporia, Virginia 23847. The money will be donated to a scholarship fund in memory of Avery Drew for the 2022 graduating class as well as other special organizations that were dear to her.
