Susie Anna Staton

Susie Anna Staton, 79, of Jarratt, passed away Monday, December 31, 2012. Born in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late James Fletcher Staton and Julia Frances Martin Staton and was preceded in death by five brothers, Richard, Toliver, Russell, Ray and Carroll and a sister, Cornelia. She was an active member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. Miss Staton is survived by three sisters, Nancy Martin of Auburn, AL, Mary Lucy Jones of Purdy and Julia Powell of Winchester; sisters-in-law, Arlene Staton and Sarah Staton, both of Emporia and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia where the funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013 with interment to follow at Grace Anglican Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Jarratt Volunteer Fire Department or to Greensville Volunteer Rescue Squad.
