Lloyd Randolph Poarch

Lloyd Randolph Poarch, 82, of Emporia, died Saturday, December 22, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Shirley Barnes Poarch; two sons, Ron Barnes Poarch and wife, Kandy Bryant Poarch and Brian Barnes Poarch and wife, Mary Beth Harrell Poarch, all of Emporia; two daughters, Myra Johnson and husband, Robert Johnson of Pinehurst, NC and Ann Randolph Magee and husband, Russ Magee of Yale; seven grandchildren, Weaver Johnson, Brooks Ann Hazelton, Paul Blair Johnson, Shirlkay Nikole Poarch, Sarah Hart Poarch, Bryant Randolph Poarch and Jane Randolph Poarch and two great-grandchildren, Olivia Noel Hazelton and Virginia Jean Hazelton. Mr. Poarch was a veteran of the Virginia Army National Guard, retiring in 1990 after 43 years of service. He earned many awards and citations during his career and was honored by having the Emporia National Guard Armory named in his honor. A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Greensville Memorial Cemetery.
