Bobby Lee Flippen

Bobby Lee Flippen, 77, of Emporia, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2012. He was the widower of Bernice M. Flippen. He is survived by his daughter, Juliette F. Pair and husband, Bruce; granddaughter, Jordan Gabrielle pair; grandson, Berklee Walton Pair, all of Emporia; brother, Reginal E. Flippen (Peggy) of Amelia; sister, Sylvia F. Farley of Chester; brotherin-law, Mason Bowman (Donna) of Amelia and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Zona F. Bowman. Mr. Flippen was the son of the late Raymond E. and Ruth Arrington Flippen and was a graduate of Virginia Tech and North Carolina State University. He was a retired agricultural extension agent and dedicated past employee of Southeast Tisand Mining and Illuka Resources, Inc. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd., Jarratt, Virginia. The funeral service will be held graveside 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Emporia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memroail contributions be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 310 N. Main St. Emporia, VA 23847.
