Marie Buckner Gordon

Marie Buckner Gordon, born October 1, 1921, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Nuit Gordon; two brothers, Gilbert Buckner and William Buckner and one sister, Frances pearson. She is survived by four sons, Oscar and Wayne Gordon of Emporia, Wilbur Gordon of Graham, NC, Phillip Gordon of Littleton, NC and four daughters, Bonnie Driver, Annie Allen and Nita Grizzard, all of Emporia and Audrey Dancy of Stony Creek. She also is survived by two sisters, Ella Connell and Elsie Clary of South Brunswick. She was always surrounded by a large family consisting of 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia. The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Forest Hill Baptist Church, 2103 Pine Log Rd, Emporia, Virginia with interment to follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Forest Hill Baptist Church, 2103 Pine Log Rd, Emporia, VA 23847.
