Jesse Phillips

Jesse R. Phillips, 70, of Emporia, died Thursday, November 15, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Loraine G. Phillips; daughter, Pam Thomas and husband, Ray; two granddaughters, Brooke Thomas and Ariel Daniel and husband, Mikey; two sisters, Maxine Braswell and Odell Ingram and husband, Bernard; two brothers, Clyde Phillips and wife, Arlene and Roy Phillips and wife, Bonnie; brother-in-law, Bobby Howerton and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Phillips was the son of the late Wade and Daisy Phillips and was also preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Phillips and a sister, Earline Howerton. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2012. Interment will follow at Independence United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Independence United Methodist Church.
