Frances Newton Cole

Frances Newton Cole, 95, of Purdy, died Thursday, August 2, 2012. She was born in Virgilina, the daughter of the late Jack and Macie Hite Newton. The widow of John Wiley Cole, she was also preceded in death by her sisters, Nell N. Morgan and Audrey N. Ferrell and by George “Corky” Holloway whom she regarded as a son. Survivors include four nephews and two nieces and her special caregivers and many friends who helped her during her long illness. A graveside funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Emporia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Purdy Baptist Church, 301 West York Dr., Emporia, VA 23847. Owen Funeral Home, Jarratt, Virginia is assisting the family with arrangements.
