James Lewis Gillam

James Lewis Gillam, 83, of Jarratt, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Mabel; three daughters, Dianne and Martha of Jarratt and Judy Matthews (Lynwood) of Emporia; two sons, Wayne (Connie) and Curtis (Susan) of Jarratt; four grandchildren, Carol Gillam, Steven Gillam (Lisa), Matthew Gillam and John Matthews (Jessica) and four great-grandchildren, Nikolas, Addison, Chase and Samantha. Mr. Gillam was preceded in death by a son, James David Gillam. He was retired from Allied Chemical and was an avid gardener and fisherman and was a former member of Jarratt Volunteer Fire Department. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday (tonight) at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd in Jarratt where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012. Interment will follow at High Hills Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Jarratt Volunteer Fire Department or to Greensville Volunteer Rescue Squad.
