Daisy Mitchell Edwards

Daisy M. Edwards, 73, of Emporia, widow of John D. Edwards, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Daisy Mitchell and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lillian High and Virginia Hobbs and two brothers, Clarence “Sampson” Mitchell, Jr. and William “Buster” Mitchell. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Thorpe and husband, Phillip; two grandchildren, Kristie Mitchell and husband, Brian and Steven Thorpe; a great-granddaughter, Julianne Mitchell; three sisters, Jane Rodgester, Emma Powell and husband, Leonard and Mary Norwood; two brothers, Ben Mitchell and wife, Betty and Horace Mitchell and wife, Nancy. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia where the funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2012. Interment will follow at Greensville Memorial Cemetery.
